Louisiana Tri was founded in 1989 and the tradition of a well-organized sprint triathlon remains strong.  It became a member of the Rocketkidz Foundation (RKF) family in 2012 with 100% of the proceeds from the race benefiting RKF.  The race takes place on False River, in New Roads, Louisiana and attracts athletes throughout the south.  

The 2023 Louisiana Triathlon features an 800m swim, a flat 18-mile bike ride around False River, and a flat and fast 5K in historic New Roads. The race wraps up with awards and a finish festival on False River.  As the tradition continues, the theme of the race changes annually, with this year's theme being "laissez les bon temps rouler!"  We are excited to be the USAT State Championship race and we're jazzing it up with a post-race party featuring a jazz band, bloody mary's, brunch, and more!

Over the last several years, the race has grown from 70 participants to nearly 500.  This means that more kids and communities that support RKF’s mission will benefit from the proceeds!  RKF is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create and sustain active, fit and healthy children, families and communities through programming, advocacy, and education, as an effort to fight childhood obesity through multisport events and camp scholarship and grant programs.  RKF also gives back to local schools/clubs in the cities that welcome us there, such as Boy Scouts, parish and city programs, 4-H, local schools, and more.
